Wakanda is a Javascript-based Server side solution for website development. Originally is start out as from 4D. Currently, it is the only supported option to product mobile 4D content.
Wakanda has had three distinct phases of development.
First, they were a comprehensive Client end server solutions with the WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) front end with a JSON based backend. It also had components that talk to 4D on the backend through a JSON based connection. The early years of Wakanda lasted from version one through version 11. About two years ago they changed direction and started to embrace more of the open JS platform. This started the Wakanda 1.1.x track where they began to encompass the use of Angular on the front end while maintaining much of the same JS oriented backend. For the most part, the backend code did not change through much of the frontend GUI items disappeared. To produce native clients, they adopted the IONIC and CORDOVA projects. Using the strategy with the open source projects to help make development start easier and allowed more of a WYSIWYG type of design for the clients.
Finally, they are on a 2.x track. The current version as of this writing is 2.6.0. While they still are following the basic pattern that they started with on the 1.x path. Thye have added more of a public and commercial solution. The still have a free limited community solution, but now they also have the Enterprise solution. Only the Enterprise solutions get some of the more advanced connectivity features. When they created the new 2.x line, they also made significant changes to the Developer environment. This stripped much of the old IDE tools and plug-ins out of the system. It also integrated the debugger into the IDE. In the past, you would use a browser-based Debugger. Commonly this would be in Google Chrome.
These sections are the articles and items that I have created to help document my journey in the world of Wakanda. I welcome feedback and comments. These articles relate to time I spoke publicly to groups in the Toledo area. You should find a copy of the slides with the article.
